Karen Lin Peng

Praised for her “high musical instinct and a fine control over the keyboard…”, Taiwanese-born American pianist Karen Lin Peng studied piano with Jung-Ja Kim and chamber music with cellist Ronald Thomas at the Boston Conservatory. She earned her master’s degree in piano performance from the Mannes College of Music under the tutelage of Arkady Aronov. She later became a pupil of the celebrated pianist Anthony di Bonaventura. Peng attended Salzberg Music Festival in Austria, the Sion Music Festival in Switzerland, and the Alfred Cortot International Days in France, where she worked with renowned piano pedagogue, Peter Feuchtwanger.

She has given solo performances in the New England area, including The Music School in Rhode Island, The Boston Conservatory, Harvard University, The Harvard Musical Association; as well as in Martigny, Switzerland and Stockholm, Sweden. She also performed as a chamber musician annually at a concert series in Wakefield, Massachusetts. In recent years, she has been collaborating with Bulgarian American Elena Cholakova and Taiwanese-born pianist Hwei-Lan Luo on piano duets. In January 2024, Peng gave her first solo recital since leaving Taiwan decades ago at the New Taipei City Arts Center. Peng was on the piano faculty of The Boston Conservatory of Music Extension Division and The Music School Piano Immersion Program with Roger Williams College in Rhode Island. Peng is a member of the Music Teachers Association of California, she was an adjudicator for the New Jersey Music Teachers Association Young Musician Competition, and served as the adjudicator for the American Fine Arts Festival Carnegie Hall Audition.

Peng is a frequent lecturer and masterclass teacher to music institutions in Taiwan including the Preparatory College High School of Taiwan Normal University, the Graduate School of Chiao Tung University, and College of Arts of Tainan University. She has been invited to present a lecture recital and a masterclass at the Music Department of Emory University in Georgia. Peng is the founder and artistic director of the Peng Piano Academy, a summer festival of intensive music programming for young pianists.
